Home Alone Safety Course

Home Alone Safety Description:
This program teaches youth the essential skills they need to feel confident and stay safe when home alone. Participants learn the importance of knowing emergency contacts, using house keys responsibly, and understanding basic safety principles for households and appliances. We also cover safe routines for coming and going, handling unexpected situations, and making smart choices. These skills help prepare youth for the responsibility of being home alone safely and comfortably.

Babysitting Course

Babysitter Course Description:
This course covers what to expect and how to care for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Participants will learn how to handle basic misbehaviour (with encouragement to communicate directly with the child’s parents), respond to common emergencies, and provide basic first aid. Topics include bottle feeding, preparing and sterilizing bottles, diaper changing, and safe sleep practices for infants (placing babies on their backs). The course also addresses choking hazards, food allergies, and essential safety tips for babysitters—such as keeping emergency contact numbers accessible, knowing how to reach the child’s parents, arranging safe transportation to and from jobs, and ensuring the babysitter’s own parents can be contacted if needed.

There’s a little quiz at the end of the course, and the kids get a certificate saying they are official babysitters!
